Hike up to high elevation lakes in the Sangre de Cristos for memorable trout fishing. Snake River Cutthroats, Brookies, and native Rio Grande Cutthroats inhabit these high mountain headwaters. Trophies exceeding five pounds have occasionally been pulled from these waters. Hunters have a variety of big game to pursue in both the San Luis Valley and the surrounding foothills. Pronghorn antelope, deer, elk, bear, and even mountain lions are found in the area.
